CITY OF WHEATLAND PARTNERS WITH YUBA COUNTY FOR BUILDING DEPARTMENT SERVICES
WHEATLAND, CA – Building department and code enforcement services within the City of Wheatland will be provided by Yuba County staff beginning February 11, as the result of a contract approved by both the Yuba County Board of Supervisors and the Wheatland City Council last November.
According to the terms of agreement, building permits for properties located within Wheatland City limits will no longer be applied for or issued at Wheatland City Hall. Instead, they can be obtained through the Yuba County Building Department, located at 915 8th Street, Suite 123, in Marysville. Building Department services will be available during working hours Monday through Friday (excluding holidays).
Building services include:
- Application submittal and inspections available five days a week
- No-wait, over-the-counter permits available for several permit types
- Quick review of permit applications
- Online services
For more information, please visit www.yuba.org or call (530) 749-5440.
“For the last several years, Wheatland has offered limited building department services,” Wheatland Mayor Joe Henderson said. “Inspections were only offered two days per week. With this new partnership, businesses or residents requiring a building permit will be able to obtain more permits over the counter the day they apply, and inspections can be scheduled on any week day, not just Tuesdays and Thursdays. We are confident this improved service we are going to offer will be beneficial and more user friendly.”
Planning services in Wheatland are still provided by the city and must be requested at Wheatland City Hall, 111 C Street, Wheatland, or by calling (530) 633-2761. Any other building-related fee that may apply to a project must be paid to the City of Wheatland. More information regarding these services can be found online at www.wheatland.ca.gov.
Code enforcement services will be provided by Yuba County Code Enforcement, upon request from City of Wheatland. Any concerns about municipal code compliance should continue to be reported directly to the City of Wheatland.
“This is another example of the great working relationship that exists between the City of Wheatland and Yuba County,” said Yuba County District 4 Supervisor Gary Bradford. “Wheatland residents will have more opportunities to work through the permitting process, which allows Wheatland staff to prepare for significant growth that is anticipated in the coming years.”
